PlayStation has opened pre-orders for God of War Laufey, the next installment in its Norse mythology saga, launching February 16, 2026 as a PS5 exclusive. Pre-orders became available starting at 10 am local time in participating regions, with the game arriving after Until Dawn 2 kicks off PlayStation's 2027 lineup on January 28.
Two editions are available for purchase. The standard version retails for $69.99 and includes only the base game, available in both physical and digital formats. The deluxe edition, priced at $79.99 and exclusive to the PlayStation Store, adds a digital artbook, digital soundtrack, the Dark Alchemy equipment set, and an in-game resource pack. Players who purchase the standard edition can upgrade to deluxe content later for $10.
Three pre-order bonuses are being offered to anyone who secures a copy before the February 15 release deadline. The most prominent reward is a Golden Leaves appearance skin for Phranque, the sentient cube companion voiced by Jack Quaid who has already gained popularity among fans. Additionally, pre-orderers receive the Last Wish armor set designed for the character Faye and an in-game resource pack. Those who pre-order the deluxe edition will receive two resource packs on launch day.
Laufey marks a significant shift in PlayStation's PC strategy. While the previous two Norse entries—God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok—eventually arrived on PC, the publisher has announced it will no longer port its first-party titles to other platforms. This means players who experienced the earlier games on PC will need to transition to PS5 to continue the Norse saga.

The God of War franchise remains active across multiple media. The original Greek mythology trilogy is undergoing a full remake, while Amazon is developing a television adaptation of the Norse games. Production on the show experienced delays following an injury to original Kratos actor Ryan Hurst. Dave Bautista has been cast as the replacement lead, with filming expected to resume following the casting change.
Laufey continues Santa Monica Studio's expansion of the God of War universe during a particularly busy period for the series. The game represents PlayStation's major first-party release for early 2027, following the publisher's quieter 2026 slate after Marvel's Wolverine concluded.
