Square Enix launched Final Fantasy Resonance on December 22nd, marking the first mainline entry in the franchise to feature HD-2D graphics. The RPG blends classic Final Fantasy themes with modern visual presentation, drawing inspiration from the mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius but rebuilt entirely for console platforms with new mechanics and expanded content.
The narrative centers on themes of vengeance and bonds tied to crystals, incorporating series staples like airships and magic alongside a redesigned job system. Combat employs turn-based command mechanics, with a notable feature allowing players to summon abilities from iconic Final Fantasy protagonists including Cloud, Terra, and Clive during battles.
To celebrate the release, the Collector's Edition delivers substantial physical content. The package includes a pixel art book showcasing the game's visual design, a soundtrack CD containing 120 original tracks, acrylic display blocks featuring the main character Rain alongside supporting cast members and legendary creatures such as Bahamut, Gilgamesh, and Veritas of the Dark. Limited-edition Final Fantasy trading cards round out the premium package, offering collectors tangible memorabilia beyond the game itself.
