The anime adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will not arrive until 2028, Crunchyroll revealed at New York Comic Con in October. The streaming service, owned by Sony Group, had originally targeted a 2027 release for the project but pushed the launch back by one year without providing details on the reason for the delay.
Unlike the main Ghost of Tsushima game developed by Sucker Punch Productions, the anime draws from Legends, the multiplayer mode introduced in 2020. This co-op experience diverges significantly from the original game's grounded historical setting, instead blending Japanese folklore and supernatural themes throughout its gameplay.

The creative team behind the adaptation includes several accomplished figures in animation and storytelling. Director Takanobu Mizuno, known for helming The Duel in Star Wars: Visions, leads the project. Animation studio Kamikaze Douga handles production, while Gen Urobuchi, the writer behind Puella Magi Madoka Magica and PSYCHO-PASS, contributes to series composition and screenwriting alongside Renji Oki.
The voice cast features Mayumi Saco, who portrayed Tomoe in the original game, and Shinya Fukumatsu, recognized for voicing Bomb in One-Punch Man, though their specific roles remain undisclosed. Keiji Inai composes the score, with Yoshikazu Iwanami serving as sound director.
Production involves multiple studios: HAYATE produces the series in collaboration with Aniplex and PlayStation Productions, with Sony Music handling music and soundtrack duties. Upon completion, the anime will stream exclusively through Crunchyroll. Further details about the exact release date and episode count will be announced later.
