PlayStation Plus continues its monthly rotation of games across its three subscription tiers, with September 2026 bringing a fresh batch of titles for Essential, Extra, and Premium members.
The subscription service, which was restructured in 2022 into Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers, regularly updates its game libraries. Essential subscribers gain access to online multiplayer and a selection of free games each month, while Extra members unlock a broader catalog of PS5 and PS4 titles. Premium, the highest tier, adds classic games and cloud streaming capabilities through PS Portal.
Essential Tier Additions
PS Plus Essential members will receive three new games this month. The standout title is F1 25, continuing a strategy employed by major sports franchises to distribute their latest annual releases through subscription services. This approach aims to convert new players into purchasers of future installments. Alongside the racing simulation, Essential subscribers gain access to Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, arriving on October 6, 2026. The selection demonstrates the service's attempt to appeal to diverse gaming preferences within its Essential offering.
Extra Tier Expansion
PS Plus Extra members will see their library expand with confirmed additions, though the full roster typically remains unrevealed until later in the month. One confirmed arrival is Mycopunk, a puzzle-adventure title that has been available on PC for over a year. The game launches on PS5 on October 20, 2026, and will be immediately available to Extra subscribers at no additional cost.
Premium Classics Catalog
The Premium tier's Classics Catalog is receiving two notable additions that align with upcoming franchise releases. Mega Man X Command Mission, a PS2 title, joins the collection ahead of Mega Man: Dual Override's 2027 debut. Additionally, Metro Redux—a remastered compilation featuring both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light—arrives in preparation for Metro 2039, the first new entry in the series since 2019. While official dates for Premium additions haven't been confirmed, Dino Crisis 2 is expected to arrive this month, with the original Ratchet & Clank likely following in November. Classic games added to the Premium catalog are typically made available for individual purchase on the PlayStation Store for non-Premium users.
Games Departing the Service
As PlayStation adds new content, several titles are being removed from Extra and Premium libraries. Eight games are scheduled to leave by October 20, 2026, including the Silent Hill 2 remake and Like a Dragon, despite no new Yakuza title currently in development. Players who wish to continue playing these titles after the departure date must purchase them individually. The removal of Silent Hill 2 coincides with the arrival of Silent Hill: Townfall on the service.
Looking Ahead
PlayStation has signaled future Classics Catalog additions beyond September through its State of Play presentation. Following the expected October additions, Dino Crisis 2 and the original Ratchet & Clank are confirmed for the Premium tier, though specific release dates remain unannounced. This ongoing rotation ensures that PlayStation Plus members across all tiers have regular reasons to explore the service's evolving library.
