Modders have uncovered hidden character assets from Resident Evil Revelations 3, a canceled Capcom project, embedded within the PlayStation 5 disc version of Resident Evil 4 Remake.
A modder known as Keff0 discovered mesh and texture files for a character named Yuri, originally developed under the codename "Project Highway." While the character's 3D model appeared in the PC version of RE4 Remake, the textures were absent—until Keff0 found them preserved in the PS5 release's files. By combining both sets of data, the modder was able to reconstruct a more complete version of the character. Keff0 has a track record of recovering cut content from games, including previously lost chapters, which lends credibility to the discovery.
The presence of Revelations 3 assets in RE4 Remake makes logical sense: both titles were built using Capcom's RE Engine, and Project Highway was scheduled to release between Resident Evil Village and RE4, meaning their development timelines overlapped significantly. It's common for game studios to reuse engines, tools, and placeholder assets across concurrent projects.
Yuri is one of the most documented characters from the unreleased game, largely due to a 2021 leak involving D.C. Douglas, the actor who voiced Albert Wesker. Douglas was fired after allegedly violating his non-disclosure agreement and sharing development materials, including an audition script. In that script, Yuri rescues an injured Wesker—operating under the alias Michael Baxter—and delivers him to Scorpio, a crime boss character.
According to insider reports, Revelations 3 would have continued the story directly after the events of Code Veronica, which would explain Wesker's condition. The game reportedly featured a team-based structure where players controlled members like Yuri and another character named Ralph, working under a sword-wielding commander with superhuman abilities. Capcom had targeted a 2022 launch for the project but ultimately shelved it to concentrate resources on expanding Resident Evil Village.
Most of what is known about Revelations 3 comes from scattered sources: leftover files in RE4 Remake, the leaked audition script, and reports from industry insiders. This latest discovery provides one of the clearest looks at the game's intended direction and character design.
Capcom has not indicated any plans to revive Project Highway or its characters. However, the studio is actively developing a Code Veronica remake scheduled for next year, returning focus to the era in which Revelations 3 was meant to unfold.
