Masters of the Universe MTG Secret Lair drops September 14

Magic: The Gathering is releasing a five-bundle Masters of the Universe Secret Lair Superdrop on September 14, 2026, marking one of the most expansive crossovers in the trading card game's recent history. The release has generated mixed reactions from the community, with some questioning whether the property deserves integration into MTG's lore, though others are drawn to the reprinted cards featuring newly commissioned artwork.

The drop will follow the standard Secret Lair format. A pre-queue opens at 8 am PT on launch day, allowing players to add items to their cart. At 9 am PT, the system randomizes all waiting players into a checkout queue, meaning early arrival provides no guarantee of queue position. Mega bundles combining all foil, nonfoil, or mixed variants will also be available for convenience, though they typically offer minimal savings.

The first bundle, "By the Power of Greyskull," centers on He-Man and includes five cards: He-Man, Champion of Eternia, Crackle with Power, Orko the Trollan Magician, Man-at-Arms the Master Tactician, and He-Man's Battle Harness. Four of these are renamed reprints with new artwork, while one features an art swap. The nonfoil version costs $29.99, with foil copies at $39.99.

Skeletor receives his own bundle titled "Nyah-Ha-Ha!" featuring five cards themed around the villain, including Skeletor Lord of Destruction, Skeletor's Villainous Glee, Bottomless Pit, Evil Warriors' Shroud, and Rally the Evil Warriors. Pricing matches the first bundle at $29.99 nonfoil and $39.99 foil.

The She-Ra bundle contains six cards celebrating heroes allied with He-Man, including She-Ra Princess of Power, Silence, Swift Wind the Steed of She-Ra, Bow the Master Archer, Catra the Force Captain, and Sol Ring. Despite the additional card, pricing remains $29.99 nonfoil and $39.99 foil. The "Allies and Enemies of Eternia" bundle also includes six cards—Man-E-Faces, Beast Man, Evil-Lyn, The Sorceress, Teela, and Trap Jaw—at identical pricing.

The final bundle, "Sold Separately," references vintage toy marketing and includes five cards: Battle Cat the Fighting Tiger, Panthor the Savage Cat, Bone Throne, Sword of Power, and Command Tower, a full-art land. Pricing follows the standard $29.99 and $39.99 structure.

Players spending $149 or more on Masters of the Universe bundles receive a promo Swan Song card featuring artwork from the famous "Hey, what's going on" He-Man meme. Additional copies are awarded for each $149 spent, while supplies last.
