Microsoft has released Windows 11 Version 26H2, a major update that integrates artificial intelligence agents throughout the operating system's core features. The rollout embeds AI capabilities directly into Settings, Task Manager, and system menus, with Copilot now functioning as an OS-level agent rather than a sidebar tool.
The update introduces an AI assistant within Settings that interprets natural language commands to adjust system configurations, eliminating the need to navigate traditional menus. Task Manager has been modified to include dedicated monitoring for background neural processing unit tasks and AI workloads.

However, the update has triggered significant complaints from the gaming community. Users report that persistent AI background processes consume CPU and NPU resources, introduce additional telemetry overhead, and increase overall system bloat—all counterproductive for gaming performance. The forced integration of these features has generated widespread frustration across social media platforms.
A more serious issue involves graphics driver compatibility. The update reportedly overwrites current NVIDIA and AMD drivers with generic Windows WHQL versions, causing mismatches that trigger critical errors including VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE and EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION, resulting in game crashes and visual corruption.
Gamers experiencing crashes after updating should revert to a previous Windows 11 version. Those not yet updated are advised to pause Windows updates temporarily. To do this, open Settings, navigate to Windows Update, and select a pause date to prevent automatic background installation. This approach allows users to wait for a gaming-optimized release before upgrading.
