Cygames has released the fourth episode of its documentary series 'Road to WGP', which chronicles the journey of competitive players preparing to qualify for the Shadowverse World Grand Prix 2026. The series tracks former Hearthstone professional DawN and Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Korea Championship 2021 winner Karami as they work toward earning a spot in the prestigious tournament.
In the first two episodes, both competitors participated in the Streamer Clash tournament, where DawN was eliminated during the qualifying rounds while Karami advanced to finish in fourth place. Episode 3 introduced ReunKyo, an established Shadowverse professional, who provided 25 minutes of comprehensive coaching that covered deck construction strategies and detailed turn-by-turn gameplay analysis.
The latest episode shifts the format by moving to a scenic location near a mountain stream at a café in Namhansanseong. Rather than offering post-match feedback, ReunKyo engaged in live matches against both DawN and Karami while providing real-time coaching. In the first game, a mirror matchup using the Nemesis deck, DawN initially appeared to have the upper hand through aggressive early board development. However, ReunKyo regained control and secured victory by clearing DawN's board presence with Weapon of Superiority and an evolved creature. ReunKyo's assessment highlighted that while DawN's deck construction was sound, his decision-making required refinement, particularly regarding card sequencing choices like playing Pursuit Declaration and Mew on turn 4.

The second match featured Karami playing Dragoncraft against ReunKyo's Nemesis. Karami maintained steady progress through the early game and gained an advantage by using an evolved Wilnas to clear the board. When Wilnas was subsequently removed, Karami found himself without sufficient late-game options and conceded the match.
Following the coaching sessions and a meal break, the three participants engaged in a luck-based card game using Indian Poker rules, where players hold cards against their foreheads and deduce their own hand by observing opponents' cards. The stakes involved the loser jumping into the mountain stream. Since none of the players drew a Joker card, all three ended up plunging into the water together.
The episode concluded with a teaser revealing another professional player, brought in by ReunKyo, whose uniform indicated affiliation with the prominent Japanese esports organization DetonatioN FocusMe, though their face remained obscured. The Shadowverse World Grand Prix 2026 takes place in Japan in December, while the Shadowverse Korea Open 2026 Season 2, which determines the Korean representative, is scheduled for October.
