Pokemon Home support is arriving for the Nintendo Switch remakes of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen on October 7, 2026, bringing with it a free Mythical Pokemon for players who complete a major milestone in the games.
Players who catch all 150 Kantonian Pokemon in either FireRed or LeafGreen will receive a complimentary level 50 Celebi through Pokemon Home. The reward process is entirely automatic—once a player finishes the regional Pokedex, their progress syncs with Pokemon Home and the Celebi becomes available for redemption on mobile devices. Notably, Mew does not count toward this completion requirement, as it cannot be obtained through normal gameplay in these versions.

The Pokemon Home update launching alongside this feature will also expand storage capacity for Premium subscribers. The limit increases from 6,000 to 9,000 Pokemon total, a significant boost for collectors maintaining large rosters across multiple games. Additionally, the update enables players to transfer their Pokemon from FireRed and LeafGreen into Pokemon Home, though this process is permanent and cannot be reversed. Importantly, Pokemon from other games in the series cannot be transferred back into FireRed and LeafGreen.
The addition of Pokemon Home compatibility addresses one of the most requested features since these remakes launched as part of the franchise's 30th anniversary celebration. However, the functionality highlights a notable gap in the current Switch library: the absence of Generation 3 remakes. Without ports of Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, players cannot complete the National Pokedex, as those games are required to catch all available species. Speculation has intensified following a viral video shared by the official Pokemon account in Japan showing Generation 3 games running on modern hardware, fueling expectations that these remakes may be announced soon.
The timing of the Celebi distribution and expanded storage suggests that Generation 3 ports are increasingly likely rather than merely possible. Such releases would provide another avenue for celebrating three decades of Pokemon, particularly given that no Generation 10 games are scheduled for 2026. The franchise is instead offering alternative anniversary content, including a 30th Celebration set for the Pokemon Trading Card Game and an art book collection arriving in December 2026.
According to unconfirmed leaks, Generation 10 games titled Pokemon Winds and Waves are expected in late 2027. These reports include details about starter Pokemon, a complete regional map featuring a section based on Australia's Northern Territory, gym locations, and gym leader information. Official confirmation remains pending, and fans will likely need to wait for an upcoming trailer for verified announcements about the next mainline generation.
