The Thief Trophy is a challenging side quest in Moonlighter 2 that becomes available once you unlock the Treasury Halls region in the Gallery biome. However, completing it requires progression through multiple biomes and crafting a specialized weapon that won't become accessible until much later in your playthrough.
The quest hinges on obtaining the King's Left Mask, a special material dropped by the final boss in the Zephyr Fields region of the Aeolia biome. To get this item, you'll need to complete a full run through Zephyr Fields and defeat its boss encounter. Once you've secured the King's Left Mask, bring it to Tresna along with 2,000 gold to craft the Aetherium Heart weapon. This is the only tool capable of breaking the glass encasing Masa, making it essential for progressing the quest.
With the Aetherium Heart equipped, launch the Treasury Halls and attack Masa's capsule to free him. However, the quest doesn't end there. After completing your run, return to Tresna and head south toward the map's edge. You'll find Masa standing at the foot of a staircase—speak with him to officially complete the Thief Trophy.
Completing this quest grants you the recipe for the Combat Rod, a spear-category weapon that significantly outperforms the basic spear. The Combat Rod's spearheads deal 65% damage when you trigger the special move to call them back, and they maintain their linear return path to your weapon.
If you haven't yet unlocked Aeolia, focus on progressing through the main story. Selling relics to meet The Endless Vault's requirements will eventually grant you access to the biome. Moonlighter 2 launched on September 2, 2026, and is rated Everyone 10+ for fantasy violence and mild language.
