A Nexus modder has already brought Geralt of Rivia into Blood of Dawnwalker, the dark fantasy RPG developed by former The Witcher 3 creators. The mod, titled 'Geralt Face Swap for Coen,' launched just one day after the game's September 3 release.
Created by LittleOni0n, the modification replaces the protagonist Coen's head with a custom Geralt model sourced from The Witcher 3. The swap includes a complete skeletal mesh and material overhaul while maintaining compatibility with the game's existing animation systems. All of Coen's facial expressions, lip-sync animations, and transformation sequences—including his vampire metamorphosis—continue to work properly with the new face. The mod also adjusts eye color to yellow and recolors the hair, beard, eyebrows, and eyelashes to white to match Geralt's appearance.
LittleOni0n accomplished the feat in remarkably quick fashion, though the speed came at a cost. The modder spent so much time developing the mod that they barely played the game itself. In a note accompanying the release, they acknowledged that some issues may have slipped through undetected but promised to address problems as they emerge. They also emphasized that the mod was created in good faith as a hobby project and held no disrespect toward Rebel Wolves or the game's developers.
The mod has already gained significant traction within the community. It has accumulated over 7,000 views and nearly 200 downloads on Nexus Mods, with the creation spreading across social media platforms including X. The rapid adoption reflects the enthusiasm surrounding Blood of Dawnwalker's launch and the modding community's eagerness to experiment with the title.
The quick appearance of a Geralt mod makes sense given the game's pedigree. Blood of Dawnwalker is published by Bandai Namco Studios and developed by Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by veterans of The Witcher 3's development. The game launched on PC with a Mature rating, featuring blood and gore, intense violence, nudity, strong language, and strong sexual content. With an established modding community already active and a development team with deep roots in one of gaming's most moddable franchises, it appears Geralt's arrival in Vale Sangora was inevitable.
