A dedicated Elden Ring streamer has invested thousands of hours into FromSoftware's action RPG and shows no signs of stopping. Bushy, who has accumulated roughly 4,000 hours in the game, recently announced an ambitious new challenge: completing Elden Ring 726 times, each run using a different weapon, spell, or combat style.
The project began on August 3 with a more modest goal of 447 playthroughs, one for each weapon and shield combination in the game. By August 26, Bushy expanded the scope significantly to include every weapon, Ash of War, staff, seal, and spell available, nearly doubling the planned run count to 726. The stated objective is to create a comprehensive video library demonstrating how each distinct attack style performs against all of Elden Ring's bosses.
To manage the logistical burden of repeating the game so many times, Bushy commissioned a custom mod designed to streamline the tedious aspects of progression without compromising the core challenge. The modification condenses exploration and leveling by automatically providing key items that would normally require extensive grinding across multiple playthroughs. Flask upgrades, DLC Scadutree fragments, merchant upgrades, and collectible talismans can now be accessed through a special menu or obtained automatically upon defeating story bosses that unlock new areas. Items scattered throughout the world are consolidated into this system, eliminating the need to hunt them down repeatedly.
Crucially, the mod does not alter boss encounters themselves, preserving the actual combat experience that forms the heart of the challenge. Bushy explained in a video featuring the Black Flame spell that the modification exists solely to eliminate the repetitive busywork between fights. Even with this assistance, each individual playthrough still requires several hours to complete, meaning the full project could push his total Elden Ring playtime toward 7,000 hours if he finishes all 726 runs. As of now, he has completed approximately 20 of them.
Bushy has earned a reputation in the Elden Ring community for executing unusual and demanding challenge runs, ranging from randomized playthroughs to encounters against multiple copies of the same boss. His track record suggests he has the dedication to see this project through, though the sheer scope means it will likely take considerable time. Community responses to the announcement have been mixed, with some viewers expressing appreciation for the mod's time-saving approach while others joked that another FromSoftware game might release before the challenge concludes.
