A fan-created campaign transporting Baldur's Gate 3 into the World of Warcraft universe has become available, bringing players into the Forsaken storyline. The mod, called Forsaken, launched its opening act on Nexus and introduces substantial new content including more than 20 quests, over 60 NPCs and traders, and 30+ distinct combat encounters alongside fresh creatures, items, equipment, and puzzles.
The campaign draws inspiration from Warcraft's classic Undead starting zone, Tirisfal Glades, but operates independently from Baldur's Gate 3's narrative. Players assume the role of a recently awakened Forsaken character who must navigate a world no longer under the Lich King's control. The experience spans levels 1 through 5 and tasks players with hunting creatures, exploring ruins, disrupting dark rituals, and uncovering magical artifacts.

Creator SquallyDaBeanz designed the campaign with a different philosophy than Baldur's Gate 3's densely packed environments. The zones intentionally feel expansive like World of Warcraft itself, prioritizing combat encounters and exploration over intricate environmental detail. Three new companions can be recruited at Deathknell Chapel to round out a full party, though the developer notes this system requires future refinement. "The current implementation is temporary and exists purely to have a full party for combat encounters," SquallyDaBeanz stated, indicating a complete overhaul is planned for a later update.
The campaign incorporates class-specific dialogue and skill checks mirroring the base game's mechanics, with expansion planned for future releases. However, narrative complexity differs significantly from Baldur's Gate 3. While over 20 quests are available, most lack branching paths or multiple solutions. The world responds minimally to player choices compared to the main game, though certain quests include exceptions to this design approach.
Starting the campaign requires only creating a new game after installation. Currently, the mod remains exclusive to PC, as console versions are not feasible. Voice acting is absent and will not be added. The developer has not announced a timeline for Act 2 but has outlined plans for expanded class dialogue, additional roleplay opportunities, new items, NPC animations, lore books, and further quests in subsequent updates.
