Crystal of Atlan, the magicpunk action RPG from Nuverse, is partnering with the anime Ghost in the Shell: STAND ALONE COMPLEX in a major crossover launching October 28, 2026. The collaboration arrives alongside a significant content expansion featuring a raised level cap, a new adventure chapter, and fresh equipment options.
The crossover draws from Ghost in the Shell's 1989 manga origins and centers on the 2002 TV anime adaptation set in 2030. The series explores themes of cybernetics, artificial enhancement, and the philosophical boundary between human and machine consciousness through the lens of Public Security Section 9, a specialized government agency investigating complex crimes in an increasingly networked world. For this collaboration, Section 9 has detected an anomalous signal within Atlan's world, where magic and technology converge, creating a special tactical warzone that blends the anime's cybernetic aesthetic with the game's fantasy setting.
Players can engage with three main collaboration activities. The Simulated Warzone is a four-player competitive minigame where adventurers pilot individual Tachikoma units—iconic spider-like tanks from the anime—to battle each other and enemies while collecting Ultra Cogs to upgrade their machines. Defeated players drop a portion of their collected resources, adding a risk-reward dynamic. The Memory Dive collection event tasks players with spending skill points to obtain Cyber Cores, which unlock clues and corresponding rewards as progression advances. The Tactical Protocol system allows players to spend Neurochips to level up and earn additional collaboration rewards. Successful participation yields Prime Prosthetics and Neurochips that unlock exclusive items over time.
The collaboration introduces limited-time cosmetics and companions. Motoko Kusanagi, the anime's protagonist, appears as a purchasable pet, while the Think Tank Tachikoma joins as a mount with five customizable paint schemes. These additions allow players to visually integrate Ghost in the Shell elements into their gameplay experience.
Beyond the crossover, the October 28 update introduces the Lv.80 Adventure Chapter titled Hymn of Redemption and a new endgame map called Frozen Sanctuary. Players who have reached level 70 can complete a Level Breakthrough quest to raise their cap to 80 and access new content and rare rewards tied to the expanded progression system.
The seasonal Doradoween Halloween event returns from October 28 through November 18. During this period, players tackle Journey Memories puzzles, battle a boss called Lord Fat Ken to earn Halloween-themed headwear, and hunt for mysterious pumpkins to unlock hidden achievements. Collecting Midnight Fudge currency enables redemption of event rewards. Completing the Wonderland Main Quest gradually unlocks event quests that award the limited-time Pumpkin Fiend headwear.
Nuverse is running a parallel TikTok promotion from October 28 to November 11. Content creators can submit short videos about the update across three theme categories, with the top five creators per category winning a combined $630 in cash and prizes. Additional awards recognize the most-liked and most-posted videos. Players who watch Crystal of Atlan livestreams on TikTok and complete designated tasks earn in-game rewards including up to 80 Prismadium currency, Arcanite of Brocade, a Vanguard Artifact Box, and 700,000 Gold.
Crystal of Atlan launched May 28, 2025, as a free-to-play title across mobile, PC, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and Steam. The game positions itself as a combo-focused action RPG set in a world where magic and technology intertwine, with players joining the Thornbird Adventurers' Guild to uncover mysteries surrounding the titular Crystal of Atlan.
