An upcoming military real-time strategy game called Defilade aims to capture the spirit of beloved 1990s and 2000s RTS titles while introducing modern gameplay refinements, particularly in how soldiers behave during combat.
Developed by RBGames, Defilade combines traditional base-building and resource management with intelligent unit behavior and dynamic environmental destruction. The game draws heavily from classics like Red Alert 2 and Command & Conquer: Generals, alongside the Sudden Strike series.
A key feature is the soldiers' autonomous decision-making in battle. Rather than remaining stationary until ordered, units automatically take cover behind walls, vehicles, and terrain features. They can lean around corners to fire at enemies, dodge incoming grenades, and respond to enemy fire without explicit player commands. The game also includes a rescue mechanic where wounded soldiers can be dragged to safety by nearby teammates while others provide covering fire.

Defilade maintains traditional RTS fundamentals including base construction, resource gathering, and deployment of vehicles like tanks and helicopters. Supply line management remains central to strategy. The fully destructible environment allows explosions and vehicle movement to alter the battlefield, letting players construct trenches, defensive positions, and forward operating bases.
The game is currently listed as "coming soon" on Steam with no official release date announced. Interested players can add it to their wishlist on the platform.
