A European age-rating organization briefly published content descriptors for Grand Theft Auto 6 that outlined mature themes including drug use, sexual content, and graphic violence before the listing was taken down.
The PEGI (Pan European Game Information) board posted the rating summary on its website on October 2, then removed it the same day. Screenshots circulated online before the deletion, spreading word of the content details. Searches for GTA 6 on PEGI's official site currently return no results. Neither PEGI nor developer Rockstar Games has explained the removal, and the specific wording has not been officially confirmed by either party.
According to the published description, drug use features prominently in the game. Players can carry cocaine in their inventory and consume it directly by snorting it from their hand at any point during gameplay. The summary indicates that using illegal substances alongside other characters is also possible, though it does not specify how drug consumption affects gameplay mechanics like player health or mission progression.

The rating emphasized realistic violence and gore. Certain weapons enable detailed decapitation and dismemberment of civilians, criminals, police officers, and animals. Injuries inflicted on animals are depicted with less graphic detail than those affecting humans. Sexual content includes nudity, sex scenes, and depictions of sexual fetishes. Nightclubs feature paid private dances where players can place their hands on dancers' bodies. The summary also noted discriminatory language in radio and television broadcasts, frequent profanity, and in-game purchases.
In the United States, the ESRB assigned GTA 6 an M rating for ages 17 and older. Notably, neither the ESRB nor PEGI included gambling descriptors in their ratings, despite their presence in previous Rockstar titles including Red Dead Redemption and the PlayStation 5 version of GTA 5.
South Korea's Game Content Rating Board designated GTA 6 as Adults Only, marking the first high-profile title reviewed under the board's new authority, which took effect on November 1, 2025. The previous rating body, GRAC, had transferred oversight to GCRB. GTA 5 similarly received an Adults Only rating when it launched in South Korea in 2013.
GTA 6 launches November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
