How to Locate Ruto in Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake

Finding Ruto is essential to progressing through the Ocarina of Time remake, as she holds the key to obtaining the Spiritual Stone of Water. Ruto, the daughter of King Zora, must be located before the massive King Zora will move aside and grant access to the Zora Fountain.

The process begins in Zora Domain, where players should ascend the stairs on the left side to meet the diving instructor. Completing the instructor's diving challenge rewards the Silver Scale, an upgrade that enables deeper underwater exploration—a critical requirement for locating Ruto.

With the Silver Scale equipped, return to the main water chamber in Zora Domain and dive through the submerged door leading to Lake Hylia. Once there, dive downward to discover a Bottle lying on the lake floor. This item proves crucial to the mission.

After retrieving the Bottle, return to shore and equip it from the inventory. Using the ZR button reveals a message inside the Bottle, which contains alarming news: Ruto has been swallowed by Lord Jabu-Jabu. This discovery sets up the next objective.

With this knowledge in hand, return to King Zora's location in Zora Domain. Stand directly in front of him and press ZR to display the Bottle, allowing King Zora to read its contents. Upon learning his daughter's fate, King Zora will gradually move out of the way, opening the path to the Zora Fountain. Players can then proceed with the task of rescuing Ruto from Lord Jabu-Jabu.
