Lenovo's upcoming Googlebook 15 is shaping up to be a high-end device, according to leaked specifications that suggest the Android-based laptop will pack considerably more power than typical Chromebooks.
The 15-inch device is expected to feature an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor paired with either 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB. The standout component appears to be its display: a 15.3-inch OLED screen with a 2,880 by 1,800 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness reaching 500 nits. This configuration represents a significant step up from Google's Chromebook Plus line, which required only 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and either an Intel Core or AMD Ryzen 700 series processor.
Lenovo is developing multiple devices for Google's Googlebook initiative, including a tablet with detachable keyboard and trackpad alongside this traditional laptop format. The Googlebook 15 will include exclusive features designed to showcase Google's artificial intelligence capabilities, particularly Magic Cursor, which transforms the laptop's pointer into a contextual tool for Gemini queries. The device will also sport a distinctive multicolored LED strip known as a glowbar, a signature hardware element across the Googlebook lineup.
The enhanced specifications suggest these devices will command higher prices than standard Chromebooks, though exact pricing remains unconfirmed. Google plans to formally introduce its Googlebook platform later this year, with a media event scheduled for September 15 to showcase the initial wave of devices. The combination of premium components and AI-focused features indicates Google is positioning Googlebooks as a more sophisticated alternative to its established Chromebook ecosystem.
