XLGAMES unveiled its development roadmap for ArcheAge Chronicles, the upcoming successor to the original ArcheAge MMO, through a developer video released on October 22. Executive Producer Yongjin Ham reiterated three core commitments for the game: prioritizing exploration and cooperation over competitive gameplay, delivering weapon-based action combat with tactical depth, and maintaining a strict no-pay-to-win policy.

The studio confirmed that Early Access will launch with three explorable regions: Diamond Shores, Gylden Ruins, and Astron Plains. Each region contains a main story arc alongside side quests, collectively offering over 30 hours of gameplay before accounting for open-world exploration. The game will feature four combat classes—Battlerage, Archery, Sorcery, and Defense—with combat mechanics that shift based on equipped weapons. Players can switch weapons mid-battle to access different skill sets, and combat effectiveness depends on primary weapon choice combined with trait configuration and secondary weapon selection. The system emphasizes console-style action gameplay, requiring players to read enemy movements to execute dodges, parries, and counterattacks.
ArcheAge Chronicles will adopt a Buy-to-Play pricing model, eliminating ongoing subscription costs. The Early Access price in Korea is set at 36,000 won. Ham explained that the pricing strategy aims to make the initial purchase accessible without creating financial strain, allowing indefinite play after a single transaction. The game will retain features from the original ArcheAge, including housing, crafting, trading, guild systems, dungeon raids, and player-versus-player combat alongside cooperative gameplay modes.
Following the Early Access launch, XLGAMES plans to introduce gender selection for each class and add a third weapon option per class. The developer will prioritize quality-of-life improvements, balance adjustments, and character progression refinements based on community feedback. The team also intends to expand life skill content and community features during the Early Access period.
A playable demo is currently available on Steam through October 26 as part of Steam Next Fest, which began October 20. Further announcements regarding Early Access timing and updates will be shared through the game's Discord server and Steam page.
