Commemorative stamps celebrating esports champion Faker Lee Sang-hyeok nearly sold out within hours of becoming available, drawing crowds to post offices across South Korea. The Korea Post president announced the rapid depletion on social media, noting that the online allocation disappeared entirely by morning on the 23rd, the official release date.
Long lines formed outside the Seoul Central Post Office as buyers sought the limited-edition stamps and related merchandise. According to the Korea Post president, approximately 400 people queued from the evening of the 22nd through early morning of the 23rd, with another 400 waiting when he made his announcement. The surge in demand reflected the widespread enthusiasm for the stamps, which were available at head post offices nationwide and through the online platform.
Korea Post had prepared 140,000 full sheets for distribution, along with accompanying stamp albums. The online sales window opened at 10:00 AM on the 23rd, but inventory depleted rapidly. The postal service had previously announced the release details on the 10th and shared designs for first-day covers and maximum cards through official social media channels on the 14th.

The stamps commemorate pivotal achievements in Lee's esports career since his 2013 debut. He has secured six World Championship titles and ten LCK regional championships, establishing himself as one of the most decorated players in competitive League of Legends history. In January, he made history by becoming the first esports athlete to receive the Cheongnyong Medal, the highest honor in South Korea's Order of Sport Merit.
To celebrate the release, Korea Post opened a dedicated exhibition space at the Stamp Museum within the Seoul Central Post Office. The display features the commemorative stamps alongside collectibles including player jerseys, a video theater, and an interactive gaming experience area.
The Korea Post president thanked customers who endured cold weather while waiting and praised staff for managing the crowds safely. He reiterated the organization's commitment to producing meaningful stamps that resonate across generations. Officials also expressed hopes that Lee would achieve a "four-peat" by winning four consecutive World Championships and securing his seventh overall Worlds victory.
